IELTS Writing Task 1 — Sports in New Zealand

The given bar chart provides information about the most widespread physical activities in New Zealand in 2002. It also shows how the popularity of a particular sport depends on the gender of the person.

Considering the indicators of what sport girls are₁ most frequently engaged in, we can conclude that the most popular physical activities are netball which is₂ 25 percent of girls are involved in, and swimming that about 23 percent of women go₂. The most unpopular sport in this category is cricket, which attracts only about 1 percent of girls.

As for boys, it is obvious₃ that the most popular sport among them is soccer, due to its popularity rates reaching 24 percent. Netball (1 percent) and athletics (4 percent) are the least favorite activities of guys.

To sum the information up, in general, boys and girls have a penchant for different sports. This is especially evident in netball, which is played by the largest number of girls and the smallest number of boys. However, there are also sports that are approximately the same in prevalence for both genders, such as basketball, tennis and athletics.

1. Помните, что речь идёт о 2002 годе, так что логичнее использовать прошедшие времена.
2. «… which 25 percent of girls were involved in, and swimming that about 23 percent of women went to/did» — опять же поправка времени, убираем вспомогательный «is», так как у нас есть «are involved».
3. Стоит воздержаться от подобных изречений. Хоть они и не являются оценочными напрямую, я бы предложил более нейтральное «evident» или «clear».
   По итогам нужно прежде всего уделить внимание времени, о котором идёт речь. Также поаккуратнее с тяжелыми, сложносочинёнными предложениями — в них легко потерять связь подлежащее-сказуемое и допустить ошибку, которая помешает понять доносимую мысль. Несмотря на некоторые ошибки, заданиче выполнено полность, описаны все основные тренды, с хорошей грамматикой и лексическим разнообразием.
